Week 1 of the Burntwood Wednesday Netball League got underway at Norton Canes High School, with teams returning to the court for the start of a new season. Players of all experience levels came together for an enjoyable evening of netball, creating a positive atmosphere and an excellent start to the campaign.

In Division 1, Swamp Donkeys took on Burntwood Beaters in the opening fixture of the season. Both teams demonstrated strong teamwork and commitment throughout the match, producing an entertaining contest played in excellent spirits.

Division 2 saw a number of competitive fixtures throughout the evening. Pink Ladies faced Chasers in a well-fought encounter, with both teams showing determination and teamwork from start to finish.

Shot Callers then took on Hoop Dogz in another enjoyable match. Both sides approached the game with enthusiasm and energy, contributing to a competitive and entertaining contest.

Burntwood Netters faced Hoop There It Is in the next fixture of the evening. Both teams worked hard across the court, displaying good organisation and commitment throughout the match.

The final game of the night saw Pocket Rockets take on Netball Ninjas. Both teams demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork, bringing a successful opening week of netball to a close.

Player of the Week

This week's Most Valued Player award goes to Amber Smalley from Pocket Rockets. Amber delivered an excellent performance, demonstrating great movement, enthusiasm, and commitment throughout the evening. Her contribution was recognised by teammates and opponents alike, making her a deserving recipient of the award.

Looking Ahead

With Week 1 complete, teams will now look ahead to the next round of fixtures as the new season begins to take shape. The league provides a fantastic opportunity for players to stay active, develop their skills, and enjoy competitive netball in a welcoming and supportive environment.
