Play in the Birmingham Tuesday You Play Netball League

Week 1 of the new Birmingham Tuesday You Play Netball League took place at Waseley Hills High School, with teams coming together for the start of another social netball season. It was great to welcome both returning players and those getting back into the game, with everyone enjoying the opportunity to stay active, meet new people and play netball in a friendly and supportive environment.

The first game of the evening saw Waseley Wizards take on Pocket Rockets. Pocket Rockets secured a 28–7 win after a strong team performance. Waseley Wizards continued to work hard throughout the match and showed good teamwork and encouragement on court. Despite the difference in the final score, both teams remained committed and contributed to a positive opening game.

The second match featured Hoop Troops against Spice Goals. Spice Goals came away with a 24–9 victory following a good team performance. Both teams worked hard to move the ball around the court and create scoring opportunities. Hoop Troops continued to battle throughout the game, while Spice Goals made the most of their chances and worked well together to secure the win.

The third game of the evening saw Stormers face Goal Diggers. Stormers finished with a 17–8 win after both teams put in a committed performance. There was plenty of teamwork and support on display, with Goal Diggers continuing to work hard throughout the match. Stormers maintained their efforts from start to finish and took the points following a strong all-round team performance.

The final match saw Goals Aloud take on Goals Of Glory. Goals Of Glory secured a 15–9 victory in an enjoyable game. Both teams showed good movement around the court and worked hard to create chances. Goals Aloud remained positive and continued to support one another, while Goals Of Glory worked well as a team to build their lead and secure the win.

A special mention goes to this week’s Most Valued Player, Louise Hodges from Hoop Troops. Louise was recognised for her enthusiasm, movement around the court and positive contribution to her team. Her efforts and encouragement were appreciated throughout the evening, making her a deserving recipient of the award. Well done, Louise!

Thank you to all the teams who took part during the first week of the season, as well as the umpires and everyone involved in helping the evening run smoothly. It was a positive start to the new season, with plenty of teamwork, encouragement and friendly competition on display.

We now look forward to Week 2 and another enjoyable evening of social netball at Waseley Hills High School. Whether teams are aiming to improve their skills, build on their first performances or simply enjoy a weekly game with friends, we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the court.
