Last Thursday evening, Two Rivers High School was filled with the sound of court shoes on wood, the swish of netball nets, and the murmur of friendly competition. It was the eighth week of the social netball season, and the gymnasium was flooded with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Players of all experience levels from our Division 1 and Division 2 groups came together for a night filled with teamwork, sportsmanship, and plenty of positive energy.
The first match of the evening saw the River Warriors and Alliance come together for an enjoyable game, with Alliance securing 17 points to River Warriors' 6. Their commitment to working as a unit was evident, and they maintained a lively spirit throughout the game.
Next, Rivers Divas and River Riders took to the court, playing with a shared sense of enthusiastic sportsmanship. The Rivers Divas finished the game with a score of 21-10, a testament to their dynamic teamwork and positivity.
The energy was high as Rivers Phoenix and River Blacks took their turn on the court. River Blacks ended with an impressive score of 31-3. Despite the score difference, both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship, and the game was played in great spirit.
The final Division 1 game saw Rivers Swimmers and Unity face off. Unity ended the game with 27 points to Rivers Swimmers' 8. The game was filled with friendly competition and mutual respect, and both teams should be proud of their display of teamwork and commitment.
In Division 2, River Cruisers and River Golds played an evenly matched game, with River Cruisers finishing just one point ahead with a score of 6-5.
River Dancers and River Chicks also put on a great display of sportsmanship, with River Chicks finishing with a respectable 15-10 score. The camaraderie on the court was palpable.
Finally, River Rapids and River Sevens faced off, with River Sevens securing 18 points to River Rapids' 2. The spirit of the game was enjoyable, and both teams displayed positive energy throughout.
A special mention goes to the Most Valued Player of the evening, who showed exceptional enthusiasm, movement around the court, and positive contribution. Their efforts were appreciated by teammates and opponents alike.
As we look forward to Week 9, we eagerly anticipate another enjoyable evening of social netball. These weekly games are not just about keeping active; they're about meeting new people and developing netball skills in a supportive and friendly environment.
