Play in the Tamworth Thursday Netball League, powered by You Play Netball
The opening week of the Tamworth Thursday Netball League brought plenty of energy, excitement, and great team spirit, giving everyone a brilliant start to the new season across both divisions.
In Division 1, teams wasted no time finding their rhythm. River Warriors and River Blacks played out a closely fought contest, with River Blacks just edging ahead in the final moments. River Hot Shots made a strong start with a confident win over Rivers Phoenix, showing great teamwork early on. Meanwhile, Rivers Divas really stood out with an impressive performance against River Riders, marking themselves as a team to keep an eye on this season.
Division 2 delivered just as much excitement, with several matches going right down to the wire. River Chicks and Rivers Swimmers treated spectators to a thrilling, end-to-end game, with River Chicks just managing to come out on top. River Cruisers and River Sevens also shared a competitive matchup, with River Cruisers putting in a solid performance. One of the closest games of the night came from River Rapids and River Dancers, where River Dancers narrowly secured the win in a fantastic contest.
A special mention goes to Emily Challis from River Rapids, who was named Most Valued Player of the week. Her performance, determination, and positive attitude really stood out and made a big impact on court.
It’s only the first week, but the league is already shaping up to be fun, friendly, and full of competitive spirit. With strong starts from teams like Rivers Divas and River Chicks, there’s plenty to look forward to in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more great netball action!
