Alfreton Monday Social Netball Update 22nd April

Whilst it was good to see some close score lines this week, I understand that there were a number of scrappy games throughout the evening resulting in the umpire reporting to us that a few players were close to being disciplined, which is very unusual for a social netball league. We don’t want injuries and in equal measure the umpire doesn’t want to be blowing the whistle every 5 seconds and killing the enjoyment of the game. Let’s not forget why we play!

Everyone either has jobs to go to or children to look after and no one wants to end up with unnecessary injuries from being over zealous in the matches. Our officials are there to enjoy the sessions as much as the players and are not there to have their descisions questioned. We especially had a few issues with a couple of players playing close to edge with their attitude. These will be monitored over the next few weeks as this is a friendly sociable league and we expect all teams to respect officials and fellow players at all times. We will not issue any further warnings as we all know how to behave appropriately, we will simply ask any further offenders not to return.

The league itself saw Allstars clinch a narrow victory over the Panthers, ending the game with a 10-9 scoreline.

Equally thrilling was the face-off between Flaming Divas and Time To Shine. The Divas held their nerve to emerge victorious, outscoring Time To Shine by just one point, 6-5.

Passalona displayed a commanding performance against the Tibshelf Tigers, securing a 7-4 win. The Tigers put up a strong fight, but Passalona’s strategy and seamless teamwork saw them take home the victory.

In another high-stakes game, Raggydolls edged out Wild Ones with a 10-8 score. This close encounter was made even more memorable by a standout performance from Amy Redfern of Wild Ones, who was declared the most valued player of the week. Redfern's fantastic gameplay and strong leadership kept Wild Ones in the hunt throughout the match, earning her well-deserved recognition.

Next week sees the final matches of the season taking place but don`t worry, the new season starts the Monday after on the 6th May
