Alfreton Monday Social netball update 17th June

Whilst it was good to see some closely contested matches, we understand that there were a number of scrappy games throughout the evening resulting in the umpire reporting to us that a few players were close to being disciplined, which is very unusual for a social netball league. We don’t want injuries and in equal measure the umpire doesn’t want to be blowing the whistle every 5 seconds and killing the enjoyment of the game. Let’s not forget that’s why we play!

Everyone either has jobs to go to or the children to look after and no one wants to end up with unnecessary injuries from being over zealous in the matches. Therefore, we need to stop the frantic play and slow the game down to make sure that no one gets injured, so please take the umpires directive seriously.

In a thrilling encounter, Allstars took the points against Time To Shine with a fine 13-5 victory, setting the tone for the rest of the night's matches. Not far behind, Flaming Divas demonstrated great skill and teamwork, securing an impressive 11-3 win over Tibshelf Tigers. With the Divas bringing the heat, it's clear they're a team to watch in the coming weeks.

The closest game of the night was a nail-biting duel between Passalona and Raggydolls. In a game that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, the Raggydolls stole the show with a narrow 5-4 win but the match could have gone either way. Credit must go to Mia Bharwani for Passalona as she took the player of the match accolade for her spirited game play.

Wild Ones and Panthers took on each other this week with Panthers taking the points after a 13 - 7 victory. Leigh-Ann Creedy was the standout player for Wild Ones as she gave 100% throughout.

Allstars still remain at the head of the division as they extended their 100% start of the season to 7 matches and extended their lead to 4 points as second placed Passalona dropped points to Raggydolls.
