We were treated to a fantastic start to the new season as Division 1 teams
took to the court for their first games. With autumn bringing the chill
outside, the action on court certainly heated things up – plenty of goals,
great sportsmanship, and lots of energy from both new and returning players.
Most valued player goes to Sherree from Vipers for sharp play, playing for the
opposing ‘points match’ team, showing great sportsmanship.
In a lively match with end-to-end play, the Diamonds’ sharp finishing helped
them pull away, but the Pearls put in a strong team effort and showed they’ll
be competitive all season. Player of the Match was Emma from the Pearls, who
impressed with her tireless play and encouragement of teammates.
Topaz finished the night with an attacking display, helped out by some
seasoned players, the players new to this league played so well, but the
Emeralds put in a spirited performance and never gave up, making sure the game
was entertaining for players and supporters alike. Player of the Match was
newcomer Kayleigh from the Emeralds, who made a big impact in her first league
game.
It’s safe to say the season has started on a high. With more exciting
matchups to come, everyone is looking forward to week two to see which teams
will continue their early momentum!
