The Buxton Thursday Netball League got off to an energetic and encouraging start last night, with teams returning to the court and setting the tone for the season ahead. There was a real sense of enthusiasm throughout the evening, as players settled into their rhythm and began building momentum for the weeks to come.
In the League division, Buxton Ballers made a strong opening impression with an 18–1 result against Pointer Sisters. Their organised play and confident passing helped them get off to a positive start, offering a glimpse of what they could achieve this season. Meanwhile, Buxton Babes and Rock N Goal delivered one of the closest contests of the night, finishing level at 16–16. Both sides showed great teamwork and determination, suggesting this could be a closely matched rivalry as the season progresses.
Over in the League, Spring Into Action also began their campaign on a high note, recording a 15–1 win against Shooting Stars. Their steady play and consistency across the court helped them settle into the game early and maintain control throughout.
A special mention goes to Lisa Baker of No Bux Given, who was named Most Valued Player for the week. Her contribution on court stood out, not just in skill but in the way she supported and guided her team during the match.
With such a promising and enjoyable opening night, the league is shaping up to be a great season focused on teamwork, development, and plenty of good netball.
