Play in the Derby Thursday you play netball league!


The first week of the Derby Thursday Netball League brought plenty of energy, enthusiasm, and great teamwork as the League division got underway. After eagerly awaiting the new season, all teams stepped onto the court ready to give it their all, creating an exciting evening of netball for players and supporters alike.

Opening the season, Derby Dolls faced The Diagnostix in a lively and fast-paced match. The Diagnostix started strongly and came away with an 11-5 win, showing great teamwork and composure throughout the game. Derby Dolls also had some impressive moments and demonstrated plenty of determination that will no doubt serve them well as the season progresses.

The Derby Darlings also enjoyed a positive start to their campaign with a 7-2 victory over Destiny’s Childs. Their solid defensive work and confident shooting helped them settle into the match well, while Destiny’s Childs showed resilience and teamwork from start to finish.

Another entertaining fixture saw Don’t Stop Believing take on The Rams in a high-scoring encounter full of end-to-end play. Don’t Stop Believing secured a 17-10 win after an energetic team performance, while The Rams continued to battle hard throughout and showed great spirit on court.

Among all the strong performances this week, Laura Gryzelka from Derby Dolls stood out and earned the well-deserved title of Most Valued Player. Laura impressed with her movement, awareness, and all-round contribution to the game, making a big impact for her team and setting an excellent tone for the weeks ahead.

The opening week has already highlighted the fantastic atmosphere and talent within the league, with every team showing plenty of promise and enthusiasm. With so much energy on display, the season is shaping up to be an enjoyable one for players and spectators alike, and there is certainly plenty more exciting netball still to come.
