Play in the Derby Thursday You Play Netball League

Week 9 of the Derby Thursday You Play Netball League took place at Rykneld Sports Centre, with players of all experience levels coming together for another enjoyable evening of social netball. The league continued to provide a welcoming environment where teams could keep active, improve their skills and enjoy friendly competition.

The first match of the evening saw Derby Dolls take on Don't Stop Believing. Don't Stop Believing secured a 21–9 victory after putting in a strong team performance. Both teams worked hard throughout the match, showing good communication and teamwork across the court. Derby Dolls continued to challenge and create opportunities, while Don't Stop Believing made the most of their chances to build their lead. The game was played in great spirit, with both teams showing commitment and respect throughout.

Next up were The Diagnostix and Derby Darlings. The Diagnostix came away with a 12–4 win following a strong performance, with good movement and teamwork helping them secure the result. Derby Darlings continued to work hard throughout the game and showed great determination from start to finish. Both teams played positively and contributed to an enjoyable and competitive fixture.

The final game of the evening saw Destiny’s Childs face The Rams. The Rams secured an 11–3 victory after a consistent performance across the court. Destiny’s Childs continued to battle throughout the match, showing commitment and teamwork until the final whistle. Both teams played in good spirits and demonstrated the friendly atmosphere that makes the league enjoyable for everyone.

A special mention goes to this week’s Most Valued Player, Stephanie Lester from Derby Dolls. Stephanie was recognised for her enthusiasm, effort and positive contribution during the evening. Her movement around the court, teamwork and commitment stood out, and she was a deserving recipient of the weekly award. Well done, Stephanie.

As the league looks ahead to Week 10, we look forward to welcoming all the teams back to Rykneld Sports Centre for another evening of friendly social netball. The league gives players the opportunity to stay active, develop their netball skills, meet new people and enjoy being part of a supportive community.

The Back to Netball league is about more than results and league positions. It is about enjoying the game, supporting teammates, building confidence and taking part in a friendly and welcoming environment. It has been great to see teams continuing to embrace the spirit of the league and support one another each week.
