As the sun dipped below the horizon, Week 7 of our enthralling social netball season at Rykneld Sports Centre unfolded amidst an atmosphere of lively camaraderie and infectious enthusiasm. Players, young and old, novice and seasoned, took to the court with gusto, revelling in an evening of friendly competition and spirited teamwork.
First on the court, the Derby Darlings and The Rams engaged in a thrilling game, highlighting the essence of social netball in its finest form. Derby Darlings, known for their high-spirited and energetic approach, finished the game with a score of 6, whilst The Rams, applauded for their enduring commitment, secured a score of 13. It was a match defined by not scores, but the spirit of participation and the shared joy of playing.
The second game saw the Derby Dolls go head-to-head with Destiny’s Childs. With commendable sportsmanship, the Derby Dolls wrapped up the game with a score of 5, and Destiny's Childs, showcasing their positive energy throughout, finished with a score of 7. Despite the results, all players left the court with smiles on their faces, embodying the spirit of friendly competition.
A particular highlight of the evening was Derby Darlings player, Kyah Brown, who was celebrated as our Most Valued Player of the week. Kyah, with her tireless movement on the court and infectious enthusiasm, contributed positively to the game and was warmly appreciated by teammates and opponents alike. Her zest for the game was palpable, and her energy lifted the spirits of everyone present.
As we look ahead to Week 8, we're filled with anticipation for yet another evening of friendly social netball. It’s not just about keeping active and honing our netball skills; it's also about embracing the supportive environment, meeting new people, and fostering the spirit of togetherness.
