On a recent and radiant Tuesday evening, Rutland Sports Park was filled with laughter, cheers and an undeniable sense of camaraderie as it hosted an evening of social netball — marking the beginning of the season. This first week brought together a diverse group of players, from netball novices to seasoned pros all looking forward to a friendly game. The atmosphere was nothing short of welcoming, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.
The first game of the evening saw Rutland Rebels and Shooting Stars take to the court. The match ended with a 16 - 4 score line in favour of Rutland Rebels. The game was a delightful display of teamwork, commitment and sportsmanship from both teams, with each point scored met with cheers and encouragement.
Next on the court were Defend Divas and One Hit Wonders, who played an exhilarating game. The match ended with One Hit Wonders finishing with a score of 15 - 5. Amidst the positive energy and commitment from both sides, there was an undeniable sense of camaraderie, making it a thoroughly enjoyable game for all.
In the third match of the evening, Nets Top Models played against Pivoters in an energetic and fantastic match. The game concluded with Pivoters having a score of 17 - 5, a testament to both team's spirit and passion for the game.
One special mention from Week 1 goes to Olivia Yates from Defend Divas. Her enthusiasm, flawless movement around the court, and positive contribution were noted and appreciated by her teammates and opponents alike.
