In a thrilling opening week of the Rugeley Tuesday netball season, local teams battled it out in the League with some high-octane action. The league kicked off with high spirits, and the competition in the top flight was fierce.

The Original Lions roared to a commanding victory, toppling the Phoenix Reds with an impressive score of 11-4. Demonstrating both defensive prowess and tactical precision, the Lions set a high bar for the rest of the season. The contest between Rugeley Warriors and Rockets was a nail-biter, ending in a slim victory for the Rockets, a 10-7 triumph that kept everyone on the edges of their seats.

However, the spotlight of the week undoubtedly belonged to Rugeley Rebels and Rugeley Rangers. The Rangers, in a blistering display of skill and coordination, routed the Rebels 24-6, marking the most decisive match of the week. The Rangers' attacking performance, coupled with their solid defence, showed they are serious contenders for the title this season.

Among these impressive team performances, Sadie Burns of Rugeley Warriors stood out. Despite her team's narrow defeat, Burns put on a stellar individual performance, earning her the accolade of the week’s most valued player. Her performance this week promises an exciting season.
