In the heart of Worcester, the opening round of the anticipated Monday netball started, setting the tone for an electrifying season to come. Packed with thrilling matches and jaw-dropping performances, the league now boasts two divisions.
In Division 1, it was a fierce battle of offense and defence, with teams going head-to-head. The Court Queens emerged as the top scorers of the night, edging out the Worcester Wildcats in a stunning 19-12 victory. Not to be outdone, Worcester Sauces managed to scrape a narrow win over Hot Shots, ending the game at 12-10. Meanwhile, Manic Mondays showed great tenacity and skill, outpacing No Direction with a final score of 17-9.
The action wasn't limited to Division 1. Division 2 saw some equally gripping matches. The Goal Bladders secured a nail-biting 12-11 victory over Worcester Wonders, while Weakest Link triumphed over The Oak Apple Catchers in a 10-4 victory, displaying a remarkable team effort.
However, the start of the season would be incomplete without mentioning our most valued player: Steph Lewis from Court Queens. Lewis' remarkable agility, quick thinking, and accuracy were pivotal in the Court Queens' victory, making her the standout player of the week.
This week's thrilling matches have set the stage for a great season. With both divisions showcasing their strengths and determination, we can only anticipate more heart-stopping matches in the weeks to come.
