Newbury Social Netball - Week 2

The second week of the Newbury night social netball league took place last night and once again a great time was had.

Players are getting established and the league seems to be settling in perfectly. Therefore, the team kitty has now been disabled and this will now save each team £50 over the course of the season as there will no longer be a charge of 50p per transaction.

However, there are a few things we would like to advise all teams on:

1. We would like to suggest that all players confirm availability to play well in advance of the next fixture as the later you leave it, the harder it becomes to find replacements for any unavailability. Don`t forget you can still invite friends, relatives, or colleagues to play if your team is short on numbers. If you are still in need of extra players, then please ask the other teams to fill in as most players love to play an extra match.

2.This week, we handed out a set of coloured bibs to each team. Please remember to bring them with you for each match, these are now the identity of your team.

3. A reminder to all players regarding nails and jewellery. Nails must be kept short, below the fingertip, or gloves need to be worn. This is to prevent injury and for the health and safety of all players. Umpires will be checking prior to the match starting each week.

4. Our leagues run throughout the year and therefore when the season ends, it simply restarts the week after and all teams are included, so there is no need to reregister.

5. Finally, don't forget to warm up and stretch properly at least 10 minutes before getting on court to try and avoid any injuries.  A gentle jog, side steps, heel flicks, high knees/skipping are all good warm up exercises.
