The pulsating new season of the Burntwood Wednesday Netball League kicked off last night, with an array of close battles and strategic masterclasses across both divisions.
In the highly competitive Division 1, Sista Squad kicked off their campaign with a striking 18-2 victory over Chasers, setting the tone for the rest of the season. Their offensive strategies clearly paid off, making them the highest scorers in their division for the week. But the real surprise of the evening was the pulsating match between Kiss My Pass and Swamp Donkeys, with the latter emerging as winners with a score of 21-13.
Meanwhile, Division 2 also saw its fair share of nail-biting action. The Pink Ladies faced a minor set-back with a 5-2 defeat against the Hoop Dogz. However, Lightning Strikers' thrilling victory over Pocket Rockets with a score of 19-16 saw them topping the scoring charts for Division 2. The Netball Ninjas also made a strong start to the season, besting Hoop There It Is with an impressive 19-5 score.
The standout player of the week, however, was none other than Samantha Betts from Kiss My Pass. Despite her team's defeat in Division 1, Betts' incredible gameplay and netball skills shone through, earning her the title of the week's most valued player.
This exhilarating start to the Burntwood Wednesday Netball League has left fans anticipating next week's fixtures. With promising performances from all teams, the rest of the season can only bring more excitement and nail-biting action.
