On a crisp evening at Landau Forte Academy QEMS, the fourth week of the social netball season unfolded with the inviting buzz of camaraderie, sportsmanship and a little friendly competition. Players of all experience levels, from novice to seasoned, took to the court and brought a vibrant atmosphere to the academy, celebrating the joy of the game, and showing their commitment to their teams and the sport.
In the first match of the Division 1 group, Sunday Thunder and Shoot For It showcased a wonderful display of teamwork and persistence. Sunday Thunder finished the game with a score of 16, while Shoot For It held a spirited performance with 5 goals. The game was not marked by nail-biting tension, but by the laughter and camaraderie that filled the court, truly capturing the essence of social netball.
Following suit, No Hope United and Nets Get Physical brought forth a similarly energizing display of sportsmanship. No Hope United emerged with a score of 16, while Nets Get Physical put up a valiant effort with 10 goals. The commitment and positivity from both sides were palpable and a fine example of social netball's spirit.
The final match saw Slamworth and Tamagotchis take the court, in a game full of heart, effort and positivity. Slamworth finished with 27 goals, with Tamagotchis scoring 3. Despite the score lines, every player's contribution was instrumental, with each pass, each goal, each intercept, further fueling the beautiful ethos of social netball.
A special mention must be made for Karen Larkin from Sunday Thunder. Karen has been named Most Valued Player of the week, an accolade truly deserved. Her enthusiasm, dynamic movement around the court, and positive interactions with her teammates and opponents alike were a treat to witness. Karen’s contribution was not only felt by her team but also appreciated by all those present.
As we look ahead to Week 5, we anticipate another evening filled with fun, fitness, friendship and netball. This is the heart of social netball: the opportunity to keep active, meet new people and develop netball skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. Everyone is encouraged to bring along their positive energy, team spirit, and love for the game. See you on the court!
