Play in the Congleton Thursday netball league
It was another enjoyable and competitive evening in week 9 of the Congleton Thursday netball league, as teams took to the court under the floodlights and continued to show great effort and improvement. With the season progressing, each fixture is becoming increasingly important, and this was reflected in the determination and teamwork on display across the League.
One of the closest matches of the night saw Goal Diggers take on West Heath Wonders in a well-balanced and hard-fought contest. Both teams showed great commitment throughout, with plenty of end-to-end play and strong defensive work. Goal Diggers just managed to edge the game 12–10, finding a little extra consistency in key moments. West Heath Wonders can take plenty of positives from their performance, particularly the standout contribution from Cerys Goodman, who was named Most Valuable Player for the week.
Elsewhere, Nets Top Models faced Thursday Thunder in another lively and competitive match. Both sides played with good energy and intent, creating a fast-paced and engaging game. Thursday Thunder were able to secure a 12–9 win, making the most of their chances while maintaining solid organisation across the court. Nets Top Models also showed promising passages of play and will be looking to build on this performance in the coming weeks.
Cerys Goodman’s display for West Heath Wonders was a real highlight of the evening. Her movement, awareness, and consistent effort throughout the match helped drive her team forward and made a clear impact on the game. Despite the narrow result, her performance was rightly recognised and will no doubt provide encouragement for her team going into the next round of fixtures.
The League continues to be closely contested, with teams showing a good balance of competitive spirit and positive sportsmanship. This week’s results saw both Goal Diggers and Thursday Thunder among the higher scorers, reflecting their strong attacking performances on the night.
As the season moves into its next phase, teams will be looking to build on their strengths, develop their consistency, and continue improving with each game. The standard of play is steadily rising, and the supportive atmosphere around the league is helping create an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
