Newport Wednesday Social Netball - Week 9

Week 9 of social netball at Burton Borough School delivered another evening of competitive action, with all eight teams taking to the court in a series of entertaining matches.

The opening game saw the Court Queens face the Ball Snatchers. The Court Queens put in a strong all-round performance to secure a 22-6 victory. Their accurate shooting and effective teamwork helped them build an early lead, while the Ball Snatchers continued to battle throughout the match and showed plenty of determination.

Next up were the Goalden Girls and the Irreplaceaballs. The Goalden Girls claimed an 18-9 win after a solid display at both ends of the court. The Irreplaceaballs worked hard throughout and produced several good passages of play, but the Goalden Girls were able to maintain control of the game and take the points.

The closest contest of the evening came between Block It Like Its Hot and Jump! Jump! In a tightly fought match, neither side was able to create much separation on the scoreboard. After an exciting game that remained in the balance until the final whistle, Jump! Jump! edged the result 10-9.

The final fixture saw FireBallz take on Caught Offside. FireBallz produced a confident performance to secure a 13-3 victory. Both teams continued to compete hard throughout the game, with plenty of positive play and effort on display from start to finish.

This week's Most Valued Player award goes to Awi Mpinganjira from the Irreplaceaballs. Awi impressed with her movement around the court, work rate and positive attitude. Her contribution was recognised by players across the league and helped set the standard for the sportsmanship and commitment shown throughout the evening.

With nine weeks now completed, the league continues to provide a welcoming and enjoyable environment for players of all abilities. Whether teams are competing for results or simply looking to stay active and enjoy the game, the standard of play and team spirit remain high each week.

We look forward to Week 10 and another evening of competitive social netball.
