Newport Wednesday You Play Netball League

Week 5 of the Newport Wednesday You Play Netball League took place at Burton Borough School, with teams returning to court for another evening of social netball. There were four games on the schedule, giving everyone the opportunity to get out on court, work on their skills and enjoy playing with their teammates.

The first game saw Caught Offside take on Block It Like Its Hot. It was a closely matched game from start to finish, with both teams working hard in attack and defence. Neither side was able to pull away on the scoreboard, and after a competitive game the teams finished level at 7-7. Both teams played the game in a positive spirit and the result reflected how evenly matched they were.

Next up were Ball Snatchers and FireBallz. Ball Snatchers made a strong start and were able to create a lead as the game progressed. They finished the match with 11 goals, while FireBallz finished with 3. Despite the difference in the final score, FireBallz continued to work hard throughout the game and both teams made good use of the opportunity to get more court time and continue developing their game.

The third game of the evening saw Jump! Jump! face Goalden Girls. Goalden Girls had a strong game in attack and were able to convert their opportunities, finishing with 16 goals. Jump! Jump! finished with 4. Both teams continued to put in plenty of effort throughout the match, with the focus on enjoying the game and getting the most out of their time on court.

The final game saw Irreplaceaballs take on Court Queens. Court Queens started strongly and established a lead during the game, eventually finishing with 23 goals to Irreplaceaballs' 5. Irreplaceaballs continued to work hard and looked to create opportunities of their own, while Court Queens maintained their advantage through the game.

Our Most Valued Player of Week 5 was Sonia Bearne from Jump! Jump!. Sonia was recognised for her enthusiasm, movement around the court and positive contribution to her team. She worked hard throughout the game and continued to give her best from start to finish. Congratulations to Sonia on being named this week's MVP.

With Week 5 now complete, the teams can look forward to Week 6 and another evening of social netball. As the season progresses, players will have more opportunities to build confidence, develop their skills and get to know the other teams in the league.

We also ask all teams to continue playing in the spirit of Back to Netball. Please respect the umpires' decisions, show good sportsmanship and treat teammates and opposition with respect. Keeping the league friendly and enjoyable for everyone is an important part of what the social leagues are about.

Well done to all the teams who took part in Week 5, and congratulations to Sonia on being named our Most Valued Player. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Burton Borough School for Week 6.
