Play in the Newport Wednesday You Play Netball League

Week 3 of the Newport Wednesday You Play Netball League at Burton Borough School saw another evening of social netball, with eight teams taking to the court across four fixtures. There were some closely contested games throughout the evening, with plenty of effort and teamwork from all the teams.

The first match saw Goalden Girls take on Court Queens. Goalden Girls finished with 13 goals, while Court Queens scored 11. It was a closely contested game, with just two goals separating the teams at the final whistle. Both sides worked hard throughout the match, creating opportunities and supporting their teammates.

The second fixture was between FireBallz and Jump! Jump!. FireBallz finished with 13 goals, while Jump! Jump! scored 7. FireBallz made the most of their opportunities throughout the game, while Jump! Jump! continued to work hard across the court and compete until the final whistle.

Next up were Block It Like Its Hot and Irreplaceaballs in another close game. Irreplaceaballs secured a 12-11 victory, with just one goal separating the teams. Both sides put in plenty of effort and kept the game competitive throughout, making it one of the closest fixtures of the evening.

The final game saw Ball Snatchers face Caught Offside. Ball Snatchers finished with 9 goals, while Caught Offside scored 3. Ball Snatchers converted their opportunities well, while Caught Offside continued to work hard and support each other throughout the fixture.

This week's Most Valued Player was Laura Henighan-Davies from Block It Like Its Hot. Laura put in a strong performance, showing good movement around the court and making a positive contribution to her team. Her effort and teamwork were recognised with this week's MVP award. Well done, Laura!

League Reminders

The Newport Wednesday league is a Back to Netball league, designed to provide a friendly and social environment where players can enjoy regular netball, stay active and develop their skills. We ask all teams to continue playing their fixtures in this spirit, with respect for teammates, opponents and officials.

All players taking part should be registered to a team. Tactical subbing is not permitted, so teams should not bring in players specifically for certain games or to strengthen their team for individual fixtures. Players should be regular members of their team and games should be played in the spirit of Back to Netball.

Please also remember to respect the umpires and their decisions throughout every fixture. Umpires are there to officiate the games, and their decisions should be accepted without argument. Everyone's cooperation helps keep the league friendly and enjoyable for all players.
