Newport Wednesday Netball League

Week 10 of the Newport Wednesday Netball League took place at Burton Borough School, with another evening of competitive fixtures and plenty of quality netball. As the season approaches its conclusion, teams continued to put in strong performances, with every match played in a competitive but friendly spirit.

The opening fixture saw Court Queens take on Caught Offside. Court Queens produced an impressive attacking display, securing a 22-6 victory. Their movement and accurate shooting allowed them to build an early lead, while Caught Offside continued to work hard throughout the match and never stopped competing despite the scoreline.

The second game featured Goalden Girls against FireBallz. Goalden Girls continued their good form with a convincing 19-3 win, showing excellent teamwork across the court. FireBallz remained positive throughout the game, battling for every ball and continuing to create opportunities until the final whistle.

Next up were Block It Like Its Hot and Ball Snatchers. Both teams produced an entertaining contest with plenty of defensive pressure and quick transitions. Ball Snatchers came away with a 9-4 victory after making the most of their scoring opportunities, while Block It Like Its Hot continued to work hard and showed plenty of determination throughout the match.

The final game of the evening proved to be the closest contest, with Irreplaceaballs facing Jump! Jump!. Neither side was able to establish a significant lead as the teams traded goals throughout an evenly matched game. In the end, Irreplaceaballs edged a thrilling encounter 11-10, with both teams deserving credit for producing one of the most competitive matches of the evening.

This week's Most Valued Player was Claire Tucker from Jump! Jump!. Claire was recognised for her outstanding effort, movement around the court and positive attitude throughout the match. Her contribution at both ends of the court made her a deserving recipient of this week's award.

With just one week of the season remaining, the competition continues to provide a great mix of competitive netball and an enjoyable social atmosphere. Thank you to all of the players, officials and supporters who continue to make Wednesday evenings such a success. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week for the final round of fixtures and another enjoyable evening of netball.
