Congratulations to Court Queens, who were crowned this season’s winners in Newport, and to Goalden Girls, who finished as runners-up. A huge well done also goes to Kate Warrington and Niki Lloyd, who was named this season’s Most Valued Player. Congratulations to all four on their achievements and on a successful season.

Week 14 of the Newport Wednesday league took place at Burton Borough School, with teams returning to the court for another enjoyable evening of social netball. There was plenty of good teamwork, determination and support on display throughout the night, with every team contributing to another positive round of fixtures.

The first game of the evening saw Irreplaceaballs take on Block It Like Its Hot. Both teams worked hard from the first whistle and showed good teamwork throughout the match. Irreplaceaballs produced a strong performance to secure a 15-8 victory, while Block It Like Its Hot continued to work hard and support one another until the final whistle.

Jump! Jump! then faced FireBallz in the second game of the evening. Both teams showed plenty of determination and made some good passages of play. Jump! Jump! put in a solid performance and came away with a 19-10 win, while FireBallz continued to battle throughout the game and contributed to an enjoyable fixture.

Caught Offside went head-to-head with Ball Snatchers in the next match. Both teams worked well together and showed good commitment on court. Caught Offside secured a 9-4 victory following a strong team performance, while Ball Snatchers continued to compete and worked hard throughout the game.

The final game of the evening saw Court Queens take on Goalden Girls. This was a closely contested fixture, with both teams putting in a strong performance. Court Queens maintained their focus and secured an 11-8 win, while Goalden Girls kept the pressure on and remained competitive throughout the match.

This week’s special mention goes to Laura Henighan-Davies from Block It Like Its Hot. Laura made a positive contribution to her team and showed great enthusiasm and commitment throughout the game. Her movement around the court and support for her teammates helped her team during a competitive fixture.

As we approach the final week of the season, we would like to thank all the teams, players and umpires for their continued support and for helping to make the Newport Wednesday league enjoyable and welcoming. It has been great to see teams developing their confidence, working together and supporting one another throughout the season.

The league is all about enjoying netball in a friendly and social environment, and it is important that we continue to play in the spirit of Back to Netball. We would also like to remind everyone to respect the umpires and their decisions. Umpires play an important role in ensuring that games are played safely and fairly, and all players should support them throughout the evening.

A special congratulations once again goes to Court Queens on winning the league and to Goal Diggers on finishing as runners-up. Well done also to Kate Warrington on being named this season’s Most Valued Player. These achievements recognise the hard work and commitment shown throughout the season.
