Play in the Newport Wednesday netball league
Don’t forget, games next week are outdoors at Haberdashers’ Adams, High Street, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 7BD, so with the colder evenings drawing in, please remember to wrap up warm and come prepared for the conditions.
Week 4 of the Newport Wednesday Night netball league delivered another enjoyable evening of matches, with teams taking to the court in great spirits and plenty of positive play on show throughout the night.
Jump! Jump! enjoyed a strong performance against Block It Like It’s Hot, coming away with a 12–5 win. They worked well as a unit, moving the ball confidently and making the most of their opportunities.
One of the closest matches of the evening saw Irreplaceaballs face Goalden Girls in a lively and competitive contest. Goalden Girls edged ahead to take an 11–7 victory, but there was plenty to admire from both teams. Georgia Burns of Irreplaceaballs was named Most Valued Player of the Week after an impressive display of movement.
Elsewhere, Court Queens put in a polished performance against Ball Snatchers, securing a 22–3 win with consistent play across the court.
The evening wrapped up with a closely fought match between Caught Offside and FireBallz, with Caught Offside just edging the result 10–7 after an entertaining and evenly matched game.
As we move forward in the season, we’d like to remind everyone that the Newport Wednesday League is a social netball league. We don’t have county or divisional players, and games should always be played in that spirit — focusing on fair play, enjoyment, and respect for players and umpires at all times.
As the league heads into week 5, teams will be looking forward to more enjoyable matches and continued development on court. The friendly atmosphere and sportsmanship on display continue to make the Newport Wednesday Night Netball League a great place to play.
