Play in the Ashbourne Wednesday You Play Netball League

Week 9 of the Ashbourne Wednesday You Play Netball League took place at Ashbourne Leisure Centre, with another enjoyable evening of social netball. Players of all abilities came together to enjoy competitive matches in a friendly and welcoming environment. It was great to see teams continuing to develop throughout the season, with plenty of teamwork, determination and sportsmanship on display.

The first match of the evening saw Still Playing take on Ball Of Fame. It was a closely contested game from start to finish, with Ball Of Fame securing a narrow 10–8 victory. Both teams worked hard throughout the match, producing some excellent passages of play in attack and defence. Still Playing kept the pressure on until the final whistle, making it an entertaining contest.

The second fixture featured Bourne Lucky against Sling It Sisters. Bourne Lucky put in a strong performance to claim a 15–9 victory. They moved the ball confidently through the court and created plenty of scoring opportunities, while Sling It Sisters continued to battle throughout and showed excellent determination.

Ash & Dash faced The Ash-tonishers in the third game of the evening. Ash & Dash produced an impressive team performance to record a 26–5 win. Their accurate shooting, quick movement and solid defensive play helped them control the match, while The Ash-tonishers continued to work hard and support one another from the first whistle to the last.

The final match saw Nets Get Physical take on Pass Me The Wine in another closely fought contest. Nets Get Physical edged the game 10–8 after a competitive battle in which both teams created good opportunities and defended well. It was an excellent way to round off another enjoyable evening of netball.

Congratulations to this week's Most Valued Player, Nia Linnell from Still Playing. Nia was recognised by the umpires for her excellent effort, teamwork and positive attitude throughout the evening. Her movement on court, commitment and encouragement of her teammates made her a well-deserved winner of this week's award.

As we look ahead to Week 10, we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another evening of enjoyable social netball. It has been fantastic to see players gaining confidence each week, with teams continuing to improve while enjoying friendly and competitive matches.

Our Back to Netball league is designed for ladies aged 18 and over who want to enjoy netball in a fun, supportive and welcoming environment. Whether you are returning to the sport after a break or playing for the first time, everyone is welcome. To ensure the league remains fair and enjoyable for all participants, county and divisional players are not permitted to play.

A reminder to all teams that this is a social league, and we ask everyone to continue playing in the true spirit of Back to Netball. Please respect the umpires and their decisions at all times. Our umpires give up their time each week to ensure everyone can enjoy their games, and showing respect to officials, teammates and opponents helps maintain the friendly atmosphere that makes the league such a success.

Well done to everyone who took part in Week 9. We look forward to seeing all the teams back at Ashbourne Leisure Centre for another great evening of netball in Week 10.
