Week 7 of the Ashbourne Wednesday You Play Netball League took place at Ashbourne Leisure Centre, with another enjoyable evening of social netball bringing together players of all abilities. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming throughout the night, with every team enjoying the opportunity to play, stay active, and be part of a supportive netball community.
The first match of the evening saw Still Playing take on Nets Get Physical. Both teams started well, producing an entertaining game with plenty of good teamwork and determination on display. Nets Get Physical put together a strong performance to secure a 20-9 victory, while Still Playing continued to work hard throughout the match and showed great commitment until the final whistle.
The second fixture featured Pass Me The Wine against Sling It Sisters. It proved to be one of the closest games of the evening, with both teams battling hard for every goal. Pass Me The Wine edged a competitive contest 14-12 after an excellent team performance, while Sling It Sisters showed great resilience and teamwork throughout.
Next up, Ash-tonishers faced Ball Of Fame in another closely fought match. Both teams moved the ball well and created plenty of opportunities in attack, while strong defensive play kept the game competitive. Ash-tonishers claimed a narrow 10-8 victory, but both sides should be proud of the effort, encouragement, and sportsmanship they displayed.
The final game of the evening saw Bourne Lucky take on Ash & Dash. Both teams produced an enjoyable match, playing with plenty of energy and determination from start to finish. Ash & Dash secured a 15-11 win after a well-balanced team performance, while Bourne Lucky continued to battle throughout the game and never gave up.
This week's Most Valued Player award went to Emma Woollen from Sling It Sisters. Emma was recognised for her excellent work rate, positive attitude, and commitment throughout the evening. Her movement around the court and encouragement of teammates and opponents made her a well-deserved recipient of this week's award.
