Ashbourne Wednesday night netball - week 9

Week 9 of the Ashbourne Wednesday netball league delivered another exciting evening of fixtures, with all teams contributing to a competitive and energetic night of netball.

The opening match saw Still Playing take on Nets Get Physical. Nets Get Physical started strongly and maintained their momentum throughout the game, securing a well-earned 15–3 victory. Despite the scoreline, Still Playing continued to work hard and showed good determination across the court.

Next up, Pass Me The Wine faced Sling It Sisters in a closely contested and entertaining match. Both teams played with great intensity and created plenty of scoring opportunities, but Pass Me The Wine were able to pull ahead in the second half to take a 17–9 win.

Ball Of Fame produced another strong performance against The Ash-tonishers, controlling the game well and finishing with a 15–2 victory. The Ash-tonishers continued to show effort and resilience throughout, competing strongly until the final whistle.

In the final match of the evening, Ash & Dash took on Bourne Lucky. Ash & Dash delivered a confident and well-organised performance, taking their chances effectively to secure a 19–2 win.

A reminder was also in place this week regarding the league subbing rule. Players are required to play out of their regular position when guesting or subbing for another team, and they are not permitted to play a position they have already played in during their own team’s match on the same evening. This is in place to ensure fairness across the league and to prevent any tactical advantage through player rotation between fixtures. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and cooperation in helping this run smoothly across all games.

A special mention goes to Saria Biddlecombe Hawes from The Ash-tonishers, who was named Most Valued Player of the week. Her performance stood out for her skill, energy, and positive impact throughout the game.

Overall, it was another enjoyable week in the league, with all teams showing great attitude, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The division continues to offer competitive but friendly netball, with plenty for teams to build on as the season progresses.
