Downham Market Monday Social Netball news 2026-08-24

The second week of the Downham Market social netball league took place last night and once again a great time was had.

We did have a couple of teams who were short on players this week due to last minute unavailability and other commitments but we we still had a great night. We would like to thank all players who helped out by playing for teams who were short as this made the night run smoothly.

A special mention goes to this week's Most Valued Player, Lauren Belcher from The Ginger Snaps. Lauren's enthusiasm was infectious, inspiring both her teammates and opponents with her movement around the court and positive contribution to the game.

Here's a few things to note:

1. It’s helpful to confirm player availability as early as possible. We recommend that one person in each team posts a poll in the group chat each week to check who’s available. The later you leave this, the harder it becomes to find subs for your team if a player is unavailable. If you are short on players, you can put a post out into the leagues Facebook group. Most players love the thought of playing an extra match! Don't forget you can also invite friends, relatives or colleagues to play if your team is short on numbers.

2. 2. This week, we handed out a set of coloured bibs to each team. Please remember to bring them with you for each match, these are now the identity of your team.

3. A reminder to all players regarding nails and jewellery. Nails must be kept short, below the finger tip, or gloves need to be worn. This is to prevent injury and the health and safety of all players. Match officials will be checking prior to the match starting each week.

4. Our leagues run throughout the year and therefore when the season ends, it simply restarts the week after and all teams are included, so there is no need to reregister.

5. If your team needs to cancel for any reason, please remember that 7 days notice is required to avoid being charged for the fixture.
